watching
fort worden, wa (2006-03-03)
Alexander's Castle in Fort Worden, Port Townsend, Washington. From the history page in the Fort Worden web site:
Perhaps the most unusual and certainly the oldest building remaining at Fort Worden is Alexander's Castle. Built in the 1880's as a retreat for a clergyman from Scotland, it was intended for his future bride in England. But when he returned there for her, he found she had already married someone else!

quad line
rockaway kite festival, ny (2004-08-22)
I like this photo in spite of it being so empty. This is a quad-line kite, probably a Revolution™ of some sort. I don't remember who was flying it, but he was on the beach and I was on the boardwalk. I invited him to fly over to me and hover while I lined up the shot.
