the family photo
deception pass, wa (2005-12-31)
While walking on one of the Deception Pass beaches, we noticed a woman fiddling with a camera on a tripod. She'd yell at her family on the picnic table to get ready, then run across non-trivial numbers of driftwood logs so she could be in the family photo. All before the camera timer went off. Then she'd stumble back across the logs to see the result. After watching her make a couple of round trips, I butted in and asked if I could take the photo for her (before she broke her neck). It was a digital SLR she'd gotten for Christmas and she was eager to get an "interesting" family photo with the river in the background. I snapped off a couple of photos, then we resumed our walk. On our return, the family was watching the water go by and I snapped this just before we left the beach. Not for any artistic reason, mind you, but so I could relate this anecdote. I hope her photos were more interesting than mine!
the photo has been rotated to straighten it - hey, i was in a hurry... Posted by Picasa
